The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom. Is war the ultimate solution for peace?

General Omar Bradley an American field commander during World War II once said, “The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience……We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living.”

The greatest gift of the worst kind that each generation hands over to the next, is to teach them hate and animosity that leads to war and destruction. Perhaps corrupt leaders have received these gifts in abundance that war becomes inevitable.

Absolutely not! War should be avoided in the first place. "The world has achieved brilliance"? I don't think so. If the world had achieved brilliance, there would be no wars.

Eu acredito que não, mas infelizmente não sou eu quem decide, são os governantes, então fica difícil.

No, but as long as world leaders greedily seek for more power there will never be any true peace in the world and you will have war even within a land because of the battle to be the one in control. Besides true peace will not be found from battlefields, so call treaties, it comes from something much deeper.

Omar Nelson Bradley (Clark, February 12, 1893 - New York, April 8, 1981) was a famous and skillful general who took part in the American World War II fighting in Africa and Europe and contributed to the final victory of the Allies on the joint forces of 'Axis. He trained at the Military Academy at West Point United States, which he escaped in 1915 and soon established himself as one of the most experienced generals in the field of infantry and about military tactics. He took part in the First World War and after the war was promoted to the rank of major of the army. In 1943, during the Second World War, took command of II Corps in North Africa fighting in the campaign in Tunisia, a few months later participated in the Allied landings in Sicily (see the entry, Operation Husky). Promoted to lieutenant general, was given command of the Army during the Normandy campaign and the XII Army Group until the end of the war. In 1948 he succeeded Dwight D. Eisenhower as Chief of Staff and as Chief of Joint Staff held office from 16 August 1949-15 August 1953, the year he was awarded the rank of general of the army. In 1951 he published his memoirs, A Soldiers Story's. He died in New York, April 8, 1981.

War is only inevitable while people believe in different religions as this mainly seems to be the cause.

No, if that was the case we would already have peace in the world, given all the wars that have taken place.

I do NOT think war is the ultimate solution for peace. Creating dialogue is the beginning of a solution, and laying all options on the table. Finding commonalities is the first step, which helps both sides see one another as human and not as 1 dimensional.

I love Omar Bradley's words. It is true that we know more about war than peace.

If war is the ultimate solution of peace, then peace will not prevail at all. War cannot result in peace but more bloodshed.
