When did lamb get so expensive ?

I've invited my parents for tea on Easter Sunday, so I thought it would be nice to have a joint of lamb. I nipped to a supermarket - a budget one at that, and I couldn't believe the price of a leg of lamb.. £23.50 ! I'd want the other 3 legs and the body aswell for that ! Why are they so expensive, after all - the fields are full of them ? Looks like we're having pork instead !

I cant believe it is so expensive. I looked at buying the Sunday joint and for a change thought of Lamb. No chance at that price.

Lamb is expensive here as well. I did find out from one of my supermarkets that carries it, that at night, before they close down the deli, they will discount the meat for customers. The reason they do this is so they don't have much left over the next day, and can get fresher stuff out. You may consider asking at your own supermarket if they'll do this for you. Another tip I learned to save a little $$!

Lamb has been expensive for a while, we have been having gammon roast dinners recently, which the kids enjoy more, get fet up of having chicken all the time, even though you can cook just about anything with it. Hope you enjoyed your Easter Dinner with your Mum and Dad

We stopped buying it a while ago as it's too over priced. Hope you enjoyed your pork! T/c x

I don't eat lamb anymore after spending so much time bringing them up on my dads farm in scotland, i would rather them run wild and free, grow up and be milked and used for wool.

Hi - the only time I EVER buy lamb is when it's on a really brilliant offer. Also, I would like to know why New Zealand lamb is actually cheaper than our own?

It always gets expensive in the springtime. Should be a better price in a few months time althogh all meat has gone up.
