Which is the best painkiller for toothache?
Closed

In your experience, which is the best painkiller to relieve occasional toothache? Please don't suggest 'the dentist'!

proberly ibuprofen but if you go to the doctors you could get amoxicillin witch would sort it out no problem or you could just buy amoxicillin over the internet

I would say paracetamol unless the pain is a bit more, than I would suggest anything with codeine in it as this is quite a strong pain blocker, which is what you sometimes need for toothache. Examples of things with codeine in are Nurofen Plus, Solpadeine and boots own branded items (i.e., boots paracetamol and codeine or boots aspirin and codeine). However, be careful when taking codeine as it can be quite addictive and shouldn't be used for more than a few days. If your toothache is persisiting it might be worth getting a check up at the dentist in case it is something like an abyss, which you will need anti-biotics for.

Paracetamol just doesn't do anything for me ... a good swig of whisky dulls the pain a lot better!
