You can buy a gun and kill people, but you can't have an abortion?

I can not see the logic in this; there are women who have been raped; abused, controlled and want to abort the child conceived this way; it isn't an act done with no or little thought by most women and they've made it illegal in the USA; BUT you can go out and buy guns that enable you to go out and commit mass murder, and the gun lobby declare this as your human rights ........
What do you all think

What I have not seen is whether the new laws will prohibit the “morning after pill” as well. That is not an abortion as it prevents a pregnancy from occurring, so might still be permitted? I hope so. That at least gives a little help for those that immediately know there is a risk of pregnancy.
As for the link with gun laws - yes that had already crossed my minds. Desperate women can shoot themselves in the stomach!

1. I do not think linking guns and abortion rights is useful. Both are very emotive subjects and it'll just make things more difficult to discuss. I do not see the logic in linking the two subjects, especially as the constitution protects the 'right to bear arms' for personal defence not for murder. Perhaps you might try to see each groups points of view on the subjects separately? They might make more sense that way? :-)
.
2. It was a change to whether abortion was a constitutional right, not the introduction of a federal law. There are still many states in the USA where abortion is still legal. It'll mean travelling but not all hope is lost for victims yet. :-)
.
3. As there are always at least two lives at risk in a pregnancy I will always be pro-choice.

Over here in NI we are a society that was run for years by Bible basher s 100 years ,( DUP) Christine , that's the only way you could describe them only recently has abortion been allowed through protest along with gay marriage as we are like the backward American in a lot of aspects , I'd say not the same with gun laws , but yep we d has them two here till a agreement came to ban them happened! Our guns were hid of course no laws for them , but they were used to put fear in people and kill to ! The peace agreement came funnily with the help from Americans who negotiated to ban the use of guns and stop one side ie A Irish army bombing
Abortion here was not done lightly , with some ladies with children with birth defects and no way of a decent life for their babies had to go to England for abortions up to recently or rape , rape can happen in marriage to , or what about sexual abuse from men , yep that's happened to here and everywhere in the globe , either through exploitation of young ones or pedos say or abuse in families , let's just say it some men , ( very little I hope)
have raped their daughters , what happens then a tablet could be give to these young girls to stop a already traumatised person if they are lucky to be found before full time births happen , within the time span of course , not sure I agree with that it should be less of a span ie under 18 months maybe for abortions , a child is fully grown after 20 months that seems wrong really ...that's real
shocking news in fact, going backwards , near sure somewhere else in the world has done the same as America , just not sure where !

Here’s a thought…it’s legal to own a gun so anyone trying to tell you what you can and can’t do with your body, just pick up your gun and shoot them in the head… or the balls ?! Exercise your constitutional right to defend yourself and your body… And your child’s life if your young daughter was raped! Pro life what a hypocritical farce! One rule for them?! I’m livid with this decision and I don’t even live in America.. the land of free?! What a joke. So it’s ok to force a female… sometimes as young as 12.. to have a baby they never asked for, despite their wishes, whether it will damage them, kill them.. to have a baby that could end up starving to death because the mother can’t afford to feed it and bring it up, or for that child to get shot at school while cowering under a desk because the law says it’s ok for everyone to own a gun including hormonal teenagers?!! I am furious at this decision. In America, guns have got more rights than females?!! :-( :-( :-( Reply

Yes I agree with you. I don't see how this made sense. I'm sure some states will allow abortion though so a lot of women will just travel to those. Reply

In other words Christine , they are only interested in children up until the moment they're born . The Bible bashers enjoy the power of ruining someone elses life , and it sickens me ;( Reply

I’m actually too angry and confused to even attempt to answer at the moment… handmaid’s tale, where fiction is suddenly turning into a sinister reality in parts of USA… ?!!!!! Reply

This is a backward step that will lead to thousands of backstreet abortions being carried out in unsafe conditions . It should be a choice for the women and their partner if they have one to make these very tough decisions and not some reactionary supreme court . All polling shows that US residents want this issue to stay the decision of the individuals involved Christine. Reply
