Kindle

I own a kindle ,but i also buy real books especially if they are on special offer and are what i want ,yesterday i got an email from amazon telling me that as of from the 17th of august that i will no longer be able to browse and buy books from my kindle that i will have to log on on my laptop to buy or browse ,because my kindle is more than 10 years old .I do find this very annoying ,there is nothing wrong with my kindle ,it still works fine ,in my opinion i feel like i am being forced into buying a new one which at the moment i dont want to do ,I will just log on on my laptop ,or buy a real book ,though some of my favorite authors only publish online .I think its very unfair

Rose at my local charity shop you can buy paperback books for 50p each or 3 for £1 and there are usually quite a few recent titles there. Reply

I’m sure it comes down to providing security updates - they can only do it for more recent versions! Reply

yes it is unfair and it's all about their profits - years ago you could get spare parts etc for devices and appliances for up to 20 years to keep them going - it isnt exactly sustainable selling is it? Reply

I suppose as with all technology it gets to a point where the company no longer supports the older devices. A sad fact of modern life. I have had several different Kindles from the very first keyboard Kindle released here in August 2010 up to and including the Oasis, which is definitely my favourite so far though I loved the Voyage too..
