An Emotive One.

A Sri Lankan couple and their two daughters have finally been permission to return to Biloela in Central QLD.Please Google the stories about them. They claimed the Civil War in Sri Lanka had displaced them. War has been over for years. Trouble is, they were illegal immigrants. The father has returned to Sri Lanka to see his family. They have been here for years and still can barely speak English. I do not think that they deserve to stay here. I feel that there are more deserving immigramts that should be allowed to stay. Your thoughts please.

Hey Stratman..The only sour grapes on here is you not allowing others to have their opinion. Your opinion is not the be end and end all even though you may think it is. If Pags does a Post I’m sure she’s been on Toluna long enough to know people will have differing opinions hence the title “An Emotive One”.Her post hasn’t been hijacked by anyone, anymore than you have hijacked it yourself by doing this comment. I think your post ( yet again ) has been hijacked by apologists for the coalition pags - I think - I'd say thats sour grapes for being found out on doing nothing for nearly 4 years on this issue. To top it off some of the former members of that last coalition government publicly advocated for the return of this family to Biloela - if people are going to moan about people breaking " the rules " can they start at the top with members of the coalition who are advocating just that and work their way down from there - otherwise try an find some party who at least shares their misguided views on how to treat human beings Reply

They should come in by the right channels or be deported. There is no middle ground....one set of rules for one lot, one set of rules for another? And I doubt the entire population of Biloela agreed with this decision. From the news reports I have seen on TV it seemed to be the same 5 people in each interview. What about the rest of the 5000 in the population, how do they feel? It is a sad state of affairs for the children born here in this country, but that is more a reflection on the horrendous length of time it takes to process people with no identification. We need to know who we are letting into our country. So far we have been very lucky in the limited number of terrorist attacks on our soil, but that is just a matter of time also. Reply

Piss.d about for nearly 4 years by a coalition government who used these people as a political football but couldnt even make a decision. A new ALP government is swept into power and it takes less than a week to make a decision..................the right decision - Barnaby Joyce must feel vindicated in his support................and proud Reply

An election promise for votes. What about others in Australia in the same situation? Because they’re not in the public eye they are forgotten. Also this has broken the Refugee rule that stopped Boats and they will come again. This message had already hit Social Media as it happened and the illegal Boat Smugglers are laughing about their luck on change of Government and money they will pocket.
Australia are allowing illegal refugees in and won’t deny others is their selling point.
We’ve seen it before so be prepared.

What we think and what will happen will be two different things, pags. I agree with you, but feel they will be allowed to stay and open a few further floodgates along the way. Reply

Agree with this as their case was comprehensively examined as are all these claims - many see Australia as a place to come as more desirable due to help given to genuine refugees.
This sickens me really as many are swayed by media pleas of "these poor people" "unfair" and on it goes.
Conniving is what I call them - and many silly Australians go along with these emotional blackmail pleas.
yeah, sure they are worried about going back to Sri Lanka and the husband runs back straight away. Taxpayers have paid for this nonsense.

I know they were illegal but over the years I have developed a bit of a soft spot for them as they had really made a go of it in Biloela it seemed and the community loved them but I do agree there are probably more deserving 'real' refugees. However for their children's sake I am glad they are allowed to stay. Reply
