Eurovision 2022!

Well that's it for another year. Ukraine won (as expected) and the UK came in second. Just goes to show that entering a decent song makes all the difference as opposed to entering rubbish and then blaming it on "political voting". Personally I thought it was the dullest Eurovision ever, too many depressing/dreary songs and the presenters (especially the female) were simply awful. I was expecting more from Italy. Your thoughts?

Well, was expected the success of Ukraine and they started as a favorite. Anyway, the song is nice.
Sam Ryder was awesome and his show fantastic. Czech also had a great and dance song. And as spanish I am, I support our candidate, of course , (third in the voting). This time was something different. I have heard about auto-tune voice, but not, she didn´t use it, ( it´s not allowed to use it).
Then, I think that the performance of the festival show by the Italian Television (RAI), wasn´t very dynamic at all. So, now, let's wait for the next year. Congrats for the second place, a second place that is already a victory. ;)

I was pleased that the majority of the tele votes went to Ukraine, but i was very pleased for Sam Ryder finishing in second place. I agree with you that if it is a decent song, it makes all the difference in the votes received. Yes, there were far too many ballads this year. Reply

I thought the staging was rather drab compared to the last 10 years or so and there were too many downbeat ballads as you say. The Italian entry was extremely downbeat and dreary. I thought the German entry was rather good and he came last. The UK entry was the best song and performance and that comes from someone that is totally unbiased as far as national pride goes.
I disagree regarding Laura Pausini , probably not the best presenter but she's a great singer and the Italians love her.

lots of great singers (Poland i liked) especially but not so many good songs..my son has a Ukrainian family but was loath to tell his wife their song was rubbish. As you said it was expected to be a sympathy vote but then Poland, who has done most for the Ukraine, deserved more votes therefore. Reply

I didn't watch it Ed, I was tired after a long day out and went to bed early. It was a given that Ukraine was going to win but I heard a Ukranian MP yesterday say that the UK should really have won. Reply

I ignored the scheduled broadcast and held my own ( TrevvyVision Song Contest ). The panel of judges, me myself and I, quickly sorted good from dross landing up with:
.
Armenia: Rose Linn - Snap
Austria: Lumux / Pia Maria - Halo
Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project - Intention
Croatia: Mia Dimsic - Guilty Pleasure
Cyprus: Andromacha - Ela
Finland: The Rasmus - Jezebel
Georgia: Circus Mircus - Lock Me In
Germany: Malik Harris - Rockstars
Greece: Amanda Georgiada Tenfjord - Die Together
Lithuania: Monica Liu - Sentimental
Malta: Emma Muscat - I Am What I Am
Moldova: Zdib si Zdub & Fratri Advahov - Trenu Letul
North Macedonia: Andrea - Circles
Portugal: Maro - Saudade Saudade
Serbia: Konstrakta - In Copore Sano
Switzerland: Marius Bear - Boys Do Cry
UK: Sam Ryder - Spaceman
.
We then took it to the second round and this list of five, + 1 bear:
.
Armenia: Rose Linn - Snap
Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project - Intention
Georgia: Circus Mircus - Lock Me In
Lithuania: Monica Liu - Sentimental
Serbia: Konstrakta - In Copore Sano
Switzerland: Marius Bear - Boys Do Cry
.
Finally for the third round we dropped the bear as 3rd and awarded drawn joint-second place to the remaining five ( as Russia was missing, so no first place fairly poss. ).
