And This Is Why Mental Health Services Are So Important.
Closed

The voice of Charlie Brown took his own life last week. He had lost a sister many years ago and had severe depression. Instead of reaching out to someone, he took his life. If you know someone who has mental health issues or if you have them, reach out for help.

“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind, always.”

Yes, we have to show kindness always because you don't know that there is someone out there suffering silently

Very sad. There are many that suffer in silence. I feel awareness has improved, but it just may be one step forward and two steps back when we get through this pandemic and many feel the mental effects.

It's true, but I never like the termonology attached to it...it really puts blame on the victim...he 'died of suicide' is the preffered term as he died from his illness, and we don't blame cancer patients or car accident victims for their deaths. Anyway...you're right about reaching out, we alway put the owness on the person who is suffering to "reach out for help" but a) a lot of times, people do but resources are so underfunded, scarce or purely unhelpful that it often doesn't do much good for them, particularly immediately. and b) a lot of depressed people feel that they're "bothering" others or "being a burden" by talking to them about their mental health or asking for help...so it's important for US to check in on those we care about as well. Sad to hear this though, I didn't realize.
