The movie, Waking Ned is a comedy about trying to claim Ned’s lottery win after he was found to have passed away.
Now in a real life copycat two chaps walked into a post office in Ireland with an elderly man supported between them, to collect his pension. The teller noticed he didn’t look well (!) and when questioned one of the guys dropped him…and ran out. Only then did the staff realise the elderly man was dead!
I can’t believe they ever thought it could work!

I've never heard of the film but having heard of people claiming someone's pension years after they had died I can't say I'm surprised that the chancers tried it on.

Didn't look well that's a understatement Brucie .! :) It will give them something to talk about in the town for a wee while alright that one ...guess they got the idea from the Ned story and thought they d give it a go :)
after they found him dead extra money could have been got for the wake no doubt at the pub , read it there ! no great details but id say they had him in the car and would have brought him back to the place he died peacefully i hope , then alerted the police etc after raking in his pension ...hard not to laugh at it ...but rural Ireland ..nout shocks ..!
