This is disturbing , and rather difficult to comprehend .

Where do I start ? A British citizen has been shot dead , after taking 4 hostages in a Texas synagogue . He began by demanding the release of Aafia Siddiqui . She's a Pakistani neuroscientist who is currently serving an 86-year term in a prison in Forth Worth, Texas, for terrorism offences . Police later announced that the incident was NOT related to the Jewish community ! Latest news is that Greater Manchester police have arrested 2 teenagers in connection with the incident . It seems that the dead man had been suffering mental health issues . What a complicated web of stories . What do you think ?

I think anyone attempting to do anything illegal in the gun-happy USA should pretty much accept that they're going to get shot.

I think it demonstrates that unfortunately one part of fundamentalist Islamism is profound anti-Semitism. Closing our eyes and putting our fingers in our ears won't do.
This person could have tried to hold hostage a judge, a cop, a federal law court, a politician, or just ordinary people in a shop or whatever...
The fact he chose a synagogue should make it extremely clear that the Jewish diaspora is at risk, as well as the state of Israel itself, from extremists who view them as beneath contempt.

Hostage taking should be classed as a hazardous occupation . If he didn't know this he certainly does now Steve.

Aafia Siddiqui is allegedly a member of a widely recognised terrorist group ~ so why was he trying to get her freed from prison ?
Not sure what the Manchester connection is (as yet) but I'm sure all will become clear ??
One thing for sure; this chap is not going to repeat the offence !!!

They say the link between terrorism and mental health issues is weak but I don't believe it can be ignored. I believe anyone who becomes fanatical over anything in life does so because of a particular facet of their personality.

He have been better off doing something in this country to make his point as it would stand out more as it wouldn't be an everyday event like it is in the US, plus we tend not to shoot so many "criminals" as they do. Very mixed up, like his thinking seemed to be.
