Per Yahoo News, Australia has canceled tennis star Novak Djokovic's visa and will deport him before the Australian Open because he is not vaccinated against Covid.

Novak Djokovic is the world's #1 ranked tennis player. Apparently, he does not believe in the Covid vaccine. He was originally granted a "medical exemption" so he could play in the Grand Slam Australian Open tennis tournament. When he arrived in Melbourne, he was detained because his visa did not allow for that exemption.

Australia's Prime Minister tweeted "No one is above these rules. Our strong border policies have been critical to Australia having one of the lowest death rates in the world from COVID, we are continuing to be vigilant."

I am impressed that this country is standing firm with its rules which are designed to keep everyone safe, and not letting a celebrity bypass the rules and put many people at risk for Covid. Would the same thing happen here in the US? I don't think so....too many exceptions are made for celebrities.

I agree. Look at all the immigrants allowed to come into the US with no vaccine or testing. Our government isn't helping to lower the numbers of covid cases.

Good,! It’s about time every country stop babysitting and coddling the ignorant and paranoid. If you don’t have any pre exsisting conditions and are sooo scared of the vaccine??? I think you might want to consider mental help as well. Because paranoia is not some weird Badge of honor. Nor will it keep you alive and healthy. it’s a mental illness. Compounded by selfish stupidity unchecked. Then infecting others. If banning then does not work...maybe They should be held legally liable. Hmmmmm. It’s not a personal choice it’s a public safety issue Grow up. Ive seen 5 year old children display way more intellect and maturity than most anti vax crowd.
If these same anti vaccination people were told brushing your teeth and wiping your rear is a conspiracy to control you. They would stop that too. Yes it is that level of stupid. Good for Australia. At least they have grown a pair.

Wise decision, good for Australia. He should not be allowed to endanger others just because he is too foolish to get the vaccine.

Good for them...unless it is a medical reason, he should not be exempt.

I'm wondering if he was tested for COVID antibodies. If so and his test results were positive then he shouldn't have to get any COVID shots. If not then perhaps he could get a daily COVID test like many professional athletes do now. While I believe in following rules, this one size fits all approach to getting the shot is misguided and not based upon actual science. Would also like to see the mainstream media along with Dr. Fauci encourage Americans to strengthen their immune systems and not limit the discussion to getting vaccinated and wearing masks.

he should not get preferential treatment, if someone else asked for it, they would be turned down
