Was it a fair sentence?

The sentence was in today. For systematically torturing and murdering such a lovely little boy she got life he got 21 years. I know they won't be treated well in jail but if you live by the sword you die by the sword.
For me they both should never be allowed to be free again . I also feel that the social workers (so called) should to go to jail, ultimately they failed yet another child and always get away with it. To many children are being failed by the system and the people running it. What are your thoughts ? I feel so sad about this whole saga.

Probably the right sentence, although personally I would like neither of them ever to get out of jail.
The details of little Arthur's tragic last few months are so grim and horrific - looking at that last video of him struggling to stand up - who wouldn't want to charge into that house, scoop that little soul up and rescue him - it's the most heart-breaking thing to know that it's too late.
One thing that really struck me was the hairdresser who said that Arthur was skeletal - she witnessed him being verbally abused by the father and his girlfriend and made to stand and face the wall for 6 hours - how could an outsider let this happen in their own home and not report it?
If anything comes out of this tragedy I hope that we will all be more vigilant for signs of abuse in our communities and not remain bystanders. Rest in Peace, beautiful Arthur, and all the other children who have been let down by our society.

My heart stops and breaks when I hear or see this news, I can’t imagine how anybody can do this to any child, but their own?! It is unbelievably sad and horrendous. The poor little boy. I just wish he didn’t have to suffer. I can’t even think about them perpetrators at the moment but yes I’m glad they are in jail away from society and other vulnerable children Reply

Yes, it seems fair! 21/29 years is a long time and they will be assessed before being eligible for release anyway - and monitored afterwards! Reply

I expect to near the meaningless mantra of. "Lessons will be learned",the trouble is they never are and never will be until we accept that Social Workers do not need degrees, they need experience in life a genuine caring nature and good supervision. Reply

There have been similar cases where i was able to reserve some interest in the duress or circumstances which drove the people to do such a thing but in this case there seems to be no social stress and nobody has said they are mentally ill. I feel ashamed that human nature can sink so low in the so called civilised world. Reply
