petrol

I dont know how many of you are using the new E10 petrol ,that seems to of been pushed onto the motorist ,its a petrol that is suppose to be better for the enviroment,by containing 10% of renewable ethanol which will reduce the C02 omissions ,not all cars can run on it ,it seems mainly older cars will have problems only according to the goverment, but we have had nothing but problems ,our car is brand new ,yet when my hubby sets off the car stalls no power and then it suddenly jerks forward ,not only is it frustrating it is also dangerous ,especially if you are in traffic ,we have told the place where we got the car from and they had it in but said they could find nothing wrong ,but it has not improved,it is also only suppose to reduce your mileage to a galleon by 1% which is a load of tosh ,we have seen a reduction of 10%,hubby is lucky if he is getting 24 miles to a galleon ,we have been back on the phone to the garage ,who said it should be doing at least 40 ,hubby has stopped using it and gone back to the E5 (whatever its called now) and has seen very little difference .He has said if the garage cannot ffind any problem this time (it goes into the garage again on tuesday) then he will hand the car back to mobility ,and buy a used car that runs on diesel .we dont want to ,but it is costing us a fortune in petrol .I wonder how many more people are getting rid of petrol cars and going back to diesel because its more economical

I don't drive so don't take much notice what my husband puts in our car. Reply

I am motoring less, but using more petrol, and so the cost has shot up considerably. My car is 16 years old, and behaving perfectly on the new petrol/additive. My son has changed to a petrol driven car from a deisel model, and claims he is spending less on fuel costs and getting a smoother drive. Reply

I'm pretty certain it's a problem with the car itself . Hopefully It'll get sorted on Tuesday Rose. Reply

I’ve no idea what they are selling here to be honest as it’s usually Neil that fills up. I actually thought that the country was changing and there would be no option. I didn’t realise some cars can’t use it.
How frustrating with your new car - to be honest it sounds to me like more than just the petrol! I think the idea of rejecting it now is a very good idea.
