Congratulations to the newly independent nation of Barbados who's independence celebration and ceremony took place yesterday with Prince Charles in attendance.

May I wish the population every good fortune for the future at least now they are fully free to decide their own nations destiny after suffering centuries of repression and slavery in the past.

They've been Independent from British rule (dependency) for 55 years, they're just removing the Queen as Head of State.
However, they remain members of the Commonwealth, so the close ties between Barbados and Great Britain will continue.
I wish them every success. I'm very interested that they've announced Rihanna as their first official National Hero - her spontaneous appearance as a VIP spectator, and West Indies supporter, at the T50 Cricket World Cup certainly endeared her to cricket fans! :)
