50hrs 45mins and no power

The power went down at 4.50pm Friday, and came back on at 6.35pm Sunday, 50hrs 45mins, with no electricity ( ( the winds were terrible, he got home at 7.20pm Friday evening, almost 4hrs late; on his way home, driving his digger, he'd moved 4 trees off the road and had to change direction and route 3 times; at one point a police car had slowed to pass him, and then just yards in front of them a tree came down, closing that route home, and he & the police joked that if he'd not been there they wouldn't have needed to slow down so would have been hit by the tree.....

Thankfully we have a wood-burning fire so could keep warm, bed was dressed though it was soo cold, and I have a gas hob that I can light, so I can boil water for a cuppa and cook some food.

By Saturday morning, our local town had power, so we went and got a chip supper, and were in bed for 9pm. Sunday he took me shopping, the town was struggling with it's water supply; basically no water ..... our's comes from the top of the hill behind us, again we are very lucky; there is plenty of it and we don't need electricity to pump it

We do forget how lucky we are, from simple things like lights to the TV, the computer, and I missed you lot too :D

In our village we had power cuts also and ours came back on after 16 hours but some just out of the village is still off yet and have been told it will be tomorrow night at the earliest, that has been since Friday as the houses are beside a wood and lots of trees down on top of the wires. Reply

We do take things to much for granted, I agree.
I am glad you are re-energised. :-)

Down here in the south it has been a bit windy and a bit cold, that is all. We look at what has been going on further north and west and it is like a different country altogether. You have had a tough time but husband is a diamond. Hope things begin to settle down. Reply
