I don't understand

Good morning all. This 'butter' spread that I usually buy at ASDA is unavailable so they suggest I try something else instead. I don't understand this... the suggestion is LESS of the product for a higher price. How does that make sense? Unless they discontinued the first one to be replaced by the second one where they charge you more for less. What do you think? If I had not seen this online and went to the shop instead, I would not even notice there's 50g less in the tub but I would've noticed the 20p price hike.

It looks as if the one on the left carries a special offer of some sort, and was very likely only available for a limited time, so the higher price for the one without the flash would make sense. As to the product itself, I tried it when it first appeared many years ago, and could easily believe that it wasn't not butter : the texture was then quite coarse, although I'm told it has been improved. I use Flora Pro-active rather than butter : it tastes fine and doesn't have to be taken out of the fridge hours before I want to use it. Reply

That's not butter hun it's synthetic I would never buy it I buy proper butter £1,10 at farmfoods £1,45 at Aldi. Do you think they might be doing it on purpose so when it does reappear in the store you will just be grateful and not bother about the price Reply

The higher price one has newer branding so perhaps discontinuing the 500g.... I imagine they hoped it would go unnoticed Reply
