In darkness
Closed

I took this photo last night sitting by the log fire in darkness, we had a power cut for 31 hours from the storm Arwen, trees are down in garden roof tiles come of my food is defrost from the freezers, even my turkey is half defrosted, we not had any warm food couldn't go out as trees were down in a lot of places and we looked up if we can claim because our food defrosted but he the sound of it we can't but we ring tomorrow to check , what a sad time I been in tears over it .

I’m sorry to hear it. I didn’t realise how much damage it caused, we are very Lucky here indeed as we haven’t got power cut. During the day we just had gales, a bit of snow, hailstones and some rain.
Keep warm and don’t stress yourself too much. Sort things out bit by bit. I hope everything goes well.

Sorry to hear of your situation Jo and you've now got me in search mode for a small petrol generator that I could use to keep our freezers going if we lost supply. At least you've got a phone signal to keep in touch with people and get updates. Good luck, maybe cook whatever you can asap, cool and store outside under the snow until you ca freeze it again.

Oh dear our electric was off for 16 hours and that was bad enough but a village down the road from us have had no electricity since Friday and they say it will be tomorrow night before it is sorted.

Oh dear Lady Jo, that's not good. Hope you can make a successful claim for the contents of your freezer and you have no more power cuts. xx

A little tip Jo - a thick blanket draped over the freezer will slow down the thawing process by a few hours .

We were thinking of you Jo when we heard that the TV programme that was to be transmitted from the Welsh Castle could not send anything out because of severe damage to the castle and surrounding area. We had dreadful winds here, as did most of the country. Though we suppose with the winds coming straight in from the sea it would be worse the nearer the coast you are. We hope that you and Adrian are able to sort things out, bit by bit. xx
