#HappyHour26 - my favourite book

What an impossible question to answer, how can anyone have just one favourite book?

From my many favourites I have chosen one that goes back to my childhood. Lots of people have heard of (and watched) the TV series "Little House on the Prairie" but not many people are aware that this was the title of the second book in a series by Laura Ingalls Wilder detailing her childhood and early married life. My picture shows the first book in the series which covers the Ingalls family's lives in the "Big Woods" of Wisconsin during the early 1870s when Laura was four or five years old. The series runs for nine books, the last two of which cover the early years of Laura's marriage to Almanzo Wilder and one, "Farmer Boy" covers Almanzo 's life as a nine year old from a farming family living in New York State.

You can probably see from the picture that my copy is quite well-thumbed, as are my copies of all the other books in the series. You can also see that it it cost all of three shillings - that's 15p in today's currency!

I agree Minnie , it's totally impossible , so I went the lighthearted way . As opposed to your book , with which I'm unfamiliar , mine , which came out 20+ years ago , is £7.99 for a kindle version ! Reply
