Well it gave me a quiet laugh :-)

While I was out on my last walk, a young man in front of me was watching something on his mobile while walking. I did try to warn him about the Lamp post but carried on straight into it. He ended up sitting on the path, dropping his phone. I asked if he was OK, he said something in a language I did not understand, but pointed to the smashed screen on his phone. He got up, shook himself then walked off, so I have to assume he had suffered no injury except to hi pride. Yet again, somebody proves that watching something on a mobile device while walking, is not very safe. I never look at my phone when I am walking, with my luck I would fall into an open pub cellar, I stop move to one side to check it.

Do you look at your phone when you are walking, or are you like me, stop, and move out of the way ?

I am like you. I need to stop and deal with the phone in an out of the way place. Reply

I have seen many people walking into the road while on a phone and walking behind a reversing car almost every day hun. I just don't understand the stupidity of it Reply

No I seldom use my phone. I use iPad at home often instead. When I use my phone I stop and make it sure I use it safely. Reply

I never use my phone when walking, seems daft to me, as a child I walked into a post in the middle of an alley way and gave myself quite a bump on the forehead. I wasn't looking where I was going of course lol Reply

My phone is more used as a camera than for communication. So, no I wouldn’t be watching the screen while walking.
I used to stop the car to check messages while driving. Now I don’t bother. Nothing is so important that it can’t wait until I reach my destination.

Stepping aside to check one's phone does seem safer, Chris! Have you ever noticed that people may stop in the middle of the pavement to check their phone and then block the path of others too? Reply

I've never understood what there is to really look at on those tiny little screens so use mine as a phone. Reply

I am like you, I stop and stand aside or I keep walking without looking at it till I'm at a spot where I can stand without being in anyone's way. As a child I walked into lamp posts many times due to walking in line going somewhere with school and looking back towards the end of the line. Reply
