What do people think about Joanna Lumley's calls to bring back, Wartime Style Rationing, to help fight climate change ?

It did not work properly during the war, it spawned a booming black market in rationed goods. I can see the same happening again if it is brought in. People that have the sort of money that Joanna can lay her hands on will easily be able to find a way around any rationing imposed to help climate change. If it is brought in you can bet that it is the poorest that will suffer the most, not the rich, and super rich sitting in their mansions.

I think rich people can do the climate change with their pots of money. Poor people will suffer. I mean how much can you save on energy in your tiny matchbox home where you're already using the minimum of energy because you can't afford to pay your bill? Rich people will buy shit up like during lockdown and sell it on black market to people who can't find it in the shops anymore or those who need more of a certain item because of circumstances? Like during lockdown the supermarkets had a 'max 3 per order' on items but that wasn't very fair as a single person could buy 3 tins of soup but a family of 5 could also only buy 3 tins of soup. I agree with Ed ~ the lady is just keeping herself in the public eye !
Those who have the money will always find what they want !!
The rest of us will go without ???

I think Ms Lumley is simply keeping herself in the public eye, she is an actress after all. I once saw her in Sainsburys in a t shirt. jeans, flip flops and no make up and she still looked great. In case anyone is interested, her basket contained vodka, oranges, olives, bran flakes and Campbells mushroom soup. (I had a quick glance!) Reply

Another stupid comment from a brainless "influencer".
Wartime diets might help our health & help protect the NHS but people will ignore it anyway.

It's a crazy idea, the woman needs to wise up and put her brain in gear before opening her mouth! Reply

I wonder if that includes wine, which I know she likes the odd bottle or more. Otherwise, daft, there would be fisticuffs and looting in corner shops, petrol stations and supermarket etc. Look what happened at the start of covid. Reply
