Biden's Economic Bill - Why Not 1 Year Free Community College?

Why do politicians too many times want "all or nothing?" The very definition of "compromise" is to give a little to get a little. Why not pare down the Economic Bill and offer just ONE year of Community College instead of the whole two? It would give a lot of students a helping hand without paying entirely for them. What are your thoughts?

Nothing in life is “free”. Plus increasing the number of people with degrees are only going to make said degrees worth less Reply

The Dems are trying their best to help out the people, and there's a lot of issues to solve. Eventually they'll get around to compromising their ideas and maybe the idea of one year could be brought up. Reply

It is an excellent idea, and a great incentive for the student to excel to possibly earn an academic scholarship for the second year! Reply

I think I'm sick of all political matters! I believe they are all crooks and only care about themselves! Reply

I think that one year free community college would be reasonable. It's all the "hidden agenda" items that worry me. Reply

Not everyone is lucky enough to be physically able to join the military or able to get a scholarship. Colleges' should at least be able to lower their cost so everyone can attend if they want to. Reply

It's not a bi-partisan compromise because the Republicans have not been invited to any of the negotiations. It's only a compromise between the moderate and progressive Democrats. At any rate, all the things in this MULTI-TRILLION dollar bill are going to end up costing you and me, not just the wealthy, when businesses raise their prices to cover the cost of the extra taxes they are going to have to pay. And even one year of college would end up costing all of us a bundle. Reply

It's a decent idea, but you know that it may be a free year for the student, but it's going to cost us money. Why can't colleges be made to lower the cost of tuition. Make it more realisyic and manageable. The costs are ridiculously inflated. Reply
