Covid booster/flu jab

For my first covid jabs and for my flu jab last year I was notified by my GPs surgery. I know my covid booster is not due yet but I haven't been offered the flu jab yet (I am over 50). Speaking to people this morning, some people seem to have been called for their jabs others have not. My mother who is 83 has booked her covid booster herself but was not told to do so by her surgery even though it is over 6 months since her second jab.
After the brilliant efficiency of the flu and covid rollout of vaccines previously, things seem a little less structured this time. It is not surprising that the uptake of boosters has not been as rapid as expected. People don't know whether to wait to be called or to take the initiative themselves.
Have you been called for flu or covid jabs or have you booked without being invited to?

Yes its ask or you don't get i think now , i have been putting off ringing for it and waiting on a letter that won't come i think now ,
i have never had a flu jab as late before, so i will now i think ring tomorrow ! ....i heard our surgry are only doing a triage service for appointments and you ring on the day with the ailment , then they ring back with what they are doing for you ! as they want no- one in sitting or queuing so guess we must contact them or they won't bother maybe ! ...also heard chemist are doing jabs and can be contacted to that's over here in NI though !

I had my flu jab done at Boots, my surgery said they were not doing it for the vulnerable group yet. I can’t run the risk of having to wait to be called up for it. I’m not due my booster COVID jab until the beginning of December. Reply

I booked flu jab on my own initiative in a pharmacy at Sainsburys. Very efficient as I was able to do some food shopping at the same time. Reply

We had our flu jabs on 9 October and await being called for Covid booster jab which will probably be early to mid November. Flu jab was at GP surgery, booster might be at local pharmacy where covid 1 and 2 were done. Very small shop but very efficient. Reply

apparently if it's been six months and a week since your second covid jab you can apply if you're over 50, Hubby is due his by the 30th of this month, mine will be next month. Reply

My docs surgery rang me for all three E. My booster invite was about 2 weeks after the six month break. Hopefully yours should be getting in touch soon. Reply
