Customer returns!

Have you ever worn something and then taken it back for a refund? When I worked in retail this was commonplace especially around the Christmas/party season (ie why pay for something you are only going to wear once) I was once called to deal with a customer who was returning an evening dress (£120) which stank of beer/chip fat/cigarettes/perfume, had huge sweat stains under the arms, singe marks and a few dubious looking stains. I explained to her that we could not take it back as we would be unable to re sell it in that condition. Her reply was "It was like that when i bought it" at which point I told her to leave the store and take her dress with her.

I haven't, I would have too much of a guilty conscious about trying something like that. I feel bad enough when I need to return something for a genuine reason! Reply

Do you think it's return incidents like this which could end up making obtaining refunds more difficult for legitimately-intentioned customers? Thanks for sharing, Ed! Reply

This reminds me of a shop in Belgium which hired interns from our school. One of my classmates was an intern and she said she had to wear clothes they sold at the store as employee outfit so it shows the customers how good it looks (they only hired tall young blonde girls) and at the end of the day she had to just put those clothes she had worn back on the rack an the next day pick something else to wear. I never shopped there but after hearing that I DEFINITELY would not shop there even though I wash all new clothes before wearing, still think it's disgusting. Take something from the rack, wear it all day long, sweat in it, put it back. Reply

Never because I always wash the new clothes before wearing them. I only return items that I've tried on at home and didn't fit. Reply

I have never done this and I think it's appalling dishonesty for people to do it but sadly it seems to be quite common during party season. Reply
