England's Dreaming

There'll Always Be An England and sometimes, just sometimes, our English dreams come true....

Did that really happen, yesterday?

Did I dream it?

Could we really, truly, honestly, actually have beaten our eternal foes, Germany, by 2-0?!?

It seems barely conceivable, after FIFTY-FIVE years of hurt...... :0

Do you feel as misty-eyed as I still do... 'If England means as much to you as England means to me', I bet you're pinching yourself too, this morning-after-the-night-before...!

*The video begins with Vera Lynn's classic song, as played as the intro to the 30th Anniversary concert in 2007 for the Sex Pistols' classic album "Never Mind The B_______s". John Lydon on brilliant form and his incisive demands for Free Speech are needed more than ever in this muddled-thinking era! (*Beware those of a nervous disposition)

Oh yes, it was a pleasant surprise to beat the German team; didn't we beat them 1-5 some time ago ?
Perhaps the next result will read "Ukraine 2 - 3 UK-Kane" ???

The lads did well Hawks and I'm pleased Kane got one of the goals as he received a bit of stick before the match for not scoring in the group stages. :-) xx Reply

Why do you refer to Germany as our eternal foes, is this still harping back to a war which ended 75 years ago, they're not my eternal foes as half my family are German. England have been knocked out of the Euros by Iceland, Italy, Portugal and Yugoslavia, as well as Germany and have been knocked out of the world cup by Argentina twice, Brazil & Portugal so why the big fuss about Germany? I was too busy watching and celebrating a world class and record breaking victory in a sport we actually do well in, cycling. It has been totally ignored that Mark Cavendish won yet another stage of the Tour de France in such fine and spectacular manner yesterday. Well done Mark. Reply
