Gordon Elliott , or Gordon Bennett , what do you think ?

This is an odd story , at least I'd like to think it is .
Whilst not the worst thing to do , it's still questionable, to say the least.
Top horse trainer Elliott has been suspended, after this old photo , which has been cropped , was published . His defence is thus ;
The horse had just died on the gallops and , as he awaited the vet , his mobile phone rang . Elliott said in a statement that he took a phone call and sat down on the still warm horse "without thinking"
Not cruelty, but I'd call it disrespect , wouldn't you ?
I'm not advocating removal of his licence , but some kind of example needs to set , in my opinion . What are your thoughts on this ?

I really do not understand all the drama about this. I expect a lot of the complainers are meat eaters whereby they have no problem with perfectly healthy animals being slaughtered to eat but are shocked by someone sitting on an animal who died. Double standards? Reply

I would agree with you it is disrespectful. I wonder why anyone would want to sit on a dead horse Reply

Well let's put it this way, I personally wouldn't sit on a dead animal, it is disrespectful, for someone who is with animals all the time, I really cannot see how he did this without thinking.. whether he should keep his job.. I don't know, never heard of him before.. so I'm not really bothered Reply

So he sat on a dead horse, that has to be better and more respectful than the way the generally treat live ones as they are made to parade along the busy roads with overweight people on their backs who don't really want to go anywhere. Reply

Well you know I'm massively into racing and this has been the main news since Saturday when the story broke.The 'explanation' is almost as bad as the picture!
A lot of emotive reactions as you'd expect but personally (and logically) I think this is just a matter of respect and for the sake of racing as a whole it is almost certainly the end of his career.I can't see any way back from it.I feel sorry for the staff and owners really.

Spur of the moment, so a bit unthinking, but not something that should lead to the removal, or suspension of his licence. Turn it the other way the publishing of the picture has probably caused him a lot of pain recalling the event. As we get told regularly, don't make a mistake or hesitate, or you will be the next star on social media. It is hard to concentrate on a casualty when you have a crowd wanting to take video, or pictures of you, and a casualty. Especially when you ask for help, and they tell you where to go. Reply

A rather strange situation ?
I don't suppose the horse was too bothered ??
However, the fella should have shown a little more respect ???
(Lucky someone was there to picture the 'event' ?)
