Are you generous in giving tips in exchange of services?
Closed

Tips here refers to the money given to a person in exchance for his/her services and not a piece of advice. Usually tips are given to waiter/waitress, tricycle drivers or to anybody whose services was found to be satisfying. Sometimes tips serve as motivations for provide more quality service but some businesses do not allow tipping. In the US, tips comprise 10% or 1% of the total sales, which ever it is. I forgot the amount.
I must admit, hindi ako mahilig magtip. I am just more on saying thank you. Although the intention of tip is giving reward or a form of financial gratitude to good service done, I found tipping to be offensive, lalo na kung ako ang tatanggap. Kasi for me, as a service provider, I am doing my duty. If they are satisfied with my services, just say thank you or a simple note written in a napkin is more preferable to me. Pero kung mapilit, sige, tanggapin ko na rin, grasya na e.
However, my husband is exactly my opposite. He would always give tips. To a tricycle driver who helped him carry his bales of papers and supplies, to a water delivery boy, to the waiter of the restaurant where we ate, to a stranger who helped us get a taxi when we were in Manila, to the comfort room cleaner, at sa mga kapitbahay naming bata na minsan inuutusan niyang bumili ng kung anu-ano. Well, who would argue with that reasoning?

Small amount it may seem, yet one of our former boarder who was a waiter in a restaurant in our place was able to gather P500 a night from tip only. Mas Malaki pa sa sahod niya. He even said, there were times na greater than that ang natatanggap niyang mga tip.

Do you also give tips? What do you think about tipping?

Yes, because the quality of service they rendered to you is what they deserved.

Yes and no? Depending on the scenarios po. If it's from a favor, I usually give tips in the form of small "gifts" like small handcream, handwash or food just like to our "ate" na caretaker. But for services ng company or businesses, like you, I usually don't. Kasi the services or products, I bought, I know na may kasali na dun na extra fees. Not being a madamot person, but during these times, there are already delivery fees, shopper's fee etc on the bill. Parang may mandatory tips na. Hehe. So I just try to save na lang whenever I can.
