curtain twitchers

morning all !

im waiting for my delivery this morning and heard an engine outside so went to look to see if it was my driver having difficulty finding me or a place to park, it turned out to be a neighbour parking her car and she looked directly at me and now i feel like a nosey neighbour lol, do you have any curtain twitchers near you ?

Funnily enough I've just been stood outside waiting for someone to come and pick something up. I looked across the street, just having a look around, and I saw the old lady across from us stood with a hand on her hip just staring over at me. She has net curtains so maybe thought I couldn't see her, but I saw her silhouette! I pottered around for a bi, played ball with the dogs etc., when I glanced over again she was STILL looking! Quite the nosy neighbour haha. I almost feel bad that I'm not more interesting, at least then it would be worth her watching lol Reply

yes, we live in one of those streets where people are always watching, until there's a crime, then nobody saw or heard anything. unfortunately my partner is one of the watchers too. Reply

Greetings Helen. Never mind twitching curtains... we have an old boy who lives in a ground floor flat in the next block of 2 up, 2 down. When he's in you will find him sitting near the windows with the curtains wide open looking out onto the street. It seems he has nothing better to do all day than gaze out onto a very inactive street ! He was at the window as I passed to head to the shops this morning, and he was still there when I came back an hour or so later. In the evenings he watches TV, with the curtains still wide open. That way he can spy on anyone passing his flat. Reply

Hi Helen. It is a British tradition. There was a comedy named Stella Street. It was a series that appeared on BBC2 around the year 2000 and ran for a couple of seasons.
One of the characters was Michael Caine , " the nosey neighbour".
Have a search on Youtube it is quite amusing and illustrates the British obsession with curtain twitching.
Have a great day and hope your parcel arrives soon.
