How many of you can remember matchbox toys ?

I had a lot of these, they were die-cast, and made by Lesney, as I grew up I passed them to my brother. All the classic UK vehicles were in the collection, and they were not very expensive, I bought most of the ones I had at Woolworth.

Hello Chris,
Good to see you still have the boxes as this increases the value of them, also the older the better. All three of the main major makes went bust within three years of each other so rarity must come into the value of the models. I currently have a desk full of different makes trying to sort them out.
I can remember as an eight year old running a Bond DB5 model with all the working gizmos along a pier in Plymouth and off it shot into the sea never to be seen again. That model goes for at least £150 nowadays!!!

I certainly do remember the brand, but I do not remember the boxes like that. I remember playing with some of the cars though, they'd been through some scrapes and the lead paint was chipped off. Reply

Very much so Chris. Though it was my younger brother who actually started to build up something of a collection of them. He eventually passed them onto his son. What happened to the collection after that I don't know. Reply

Morning Chris just about remember the Matchbox packaging that my Favourite brand Dinky used also. Just last week I bought 2 1950s military vehicles and a late 1940s milk float. I will do some minor restoration on them myself before hopefully selling at a small profit to someone with more expertise. Have a great day. Reply

I have a lot stashed away somewhere. Most of those I had as a child were passed on to nephews, but I bought more in the seventies as a collection, and I still have those in their original boxes. Reply
