The swifts are back

Every year the swifts return to our village and nest under the eaves of a neighbour's house. I love to watch them swooping over the rooftops - so does Poppy, my resident bird-murderer, but fortunately they are much too fast and too high up for her to be able to do anything about it! Have you seen any swifts yet, or is there any other returning bird you look out for each year?

We get more Martin's than swifts round here but I've seen neither this year.
An office block on an industrial estate in the countryside about 4 miles away has a roost of martins every year & the noise is incredible.

As I get older I really appreciate nature more. Haven't seen any swifts yet though. My favourite bird is the puffin, they are adorable. June is a great month to go puffin spotting. Reply

Sadly, I've not seen any swifts this year, and only saw two at the very end of their 'visit' here last year. Reply

Yes they are back in our village to they always nest in the bus shelter up the road from me. Sometimes they have nearly collided with me when i have walked past. Reply

We've never had swifts here, I do hope you have reported your sightings to the RSPB or the Springwatch site where there is a link. Reply
