The swifts are back

Every year the swifts return to our village and nest under the eaves of a neighbour's house. I love to watch them swooping over the rooftops - so does Poppy, my resident bird-murderer, but fortunately they are much too fast and too high up for her to be able to do anything about it! Have you seen any swifts yet, or is there any other returning bird you look out for each year?

Morning Minnie, no swifts here just loads of pigeons , starlings and seagulls.
We always had swifts in Italy and plenty of other birds all year round in Norway.

I saw the first yesterday. Only the one so far, but there will be more. They used to nest in my roof for several years, just above my bedroom window, but just stopped and didn't return. They appear to be pretty much immune from most predators, except for the hobby. Reply
