It's Great to have Friendly Neighbours.

The following is a letter I put together for the benefit of my downstairs neighbour just over an hour ago.

On Wednesday afternoon I went down to take my black wheelie bin out for collection on Thursday, only to discover that it was far too heavy. As a result the dustmen would not have emptied it.

On lifting the lid I found it filled with bits of rolled up carpet. I hope that this was not done by you, but just in case. You should note that I took the bits of carpet out of the bin and threw them into my ground floor shed.

I’ll be contacting the council to request that they remove said strips of carpet via special collection, either tomorrow (29th), or Monday (1st June).

Though from past experience it will probably be weeks before they actually remove anything!

Robin.

I then went down to post said ditty through the letterbox, only to discover that the young lass and her boyfriend were back from their lockdown, spent elsewhere, and busy painting the living room. It transpired that the boyfriend thought that my bin belonged to the downstairs flat. He apologised for the error of his ways.

She was also very nice about it and told me that she would contact the council to get rid of the carpet herself. As a result I've now given her a spare key for the downstairs shed. The boyfriend even offered to help me at anytime I wanted anything heavy shifted in the future. Not that I can think of anything I need shifting right now. But it's worth bearing that in mind for the future.
