Migraine
Closed

Do you suffer from migraine? I do occasionally, sometimes not for a few years but today had a really bad one with flashing lights, now my head will hurt for days and I felt really faint walking home with my shopping, I laid down for a bit, I think it was the heat queuing outside tesco.

Oof I'm sorry to hear that, there's very little to compare to the debilitating agony of a true migraine headache...as you describe, with the "aura", visual disturbances, etc.
I started to get them in my late teens, thru to my mid 20's. Then very rarely, till my last one (touch wood!) which was about 20 years ago. I seem to have 'grown outof them', although it could be thanks to my Lithium medicine. It generally becalms the brain. There's long been thought to be a link between Migraine, Bipolar, and Epilepsy :)

I have had these since age 13 so 37 years now! I first notice the blond spot on my left side, the crushing headache is most noticeable next, I then start to lose feeling on my left side if I haven’t made it home to rest by then!

Oh Mary so sorry for you, why didn't you go earlier when they do the elderly only shopping, or are they not doing that now. Yes I do suffer with them and I really feel for you, go careful for the rest of the day xxx

i have suffered for 38 years ,and i have found that mine start with a dull constant headache ,feeling dizzy then the flashing lights and a halo effect over my eye ,that is when i usually take some form of tablet ,if that does not work i take feverfew straight out of my garden ,i wash and make a infusion with it ,if that does not work then i just lay down in a dark room

I don't get migraines but I get headaches frequently, I think they are caused by problems with my neck. They can last all day.

I used to get them, but no more.
Take it easy and also make sure you stay hydrated.

Yes Mary , and they're devastating aren't they ? For those who don't, I'd describe it as like a headache, but 3-4 times worse . Luckily , I get one every few years, but it means a day off from everything, including food .i hope you feel better now dear .
