home composting

I have bought some tomato seeds and planted them in my own compost. Consider my surprise that more plants started growing than I had planted do you compost.

I have a limbless dalek like the one in the picture, but it does not get used much. I mostly just let the things rot at the edges of the garden as it helps keep down weeds & sycamore shoots.

We have two and they yield huge amounts of good compost for Mrs B to pot and repot her flowers and shrubs.

I use mine mainly to dig into the borders. As I have several I tend to leave them for a year or more before I use it as the seeds are usually dead by then, the last thing I want is live weed seeds being scattered around I've got enough already to deal with!

I do Andy, seems like you threw some tomatoes in the compost bin and they germinated themselves. :-)
