Silly Law Saturday ~ It's My Puddle And I'll Jump If I Want To

In Hanford, California, it is illegal for someone to interfere with children jumping over water puddles.

What do you think of this law?

My first reaction was, who thought up this law? I have to admit this is one of the silliest laws I've come across in a long time.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Have a blessed day!

Puddle jumping was a childhood joy but the law is crazy. If my mom decided I shouldn't jump in one in my clean clothes or good shoes, that was within her right. Or if a situation looks dangerous (i.e. flooding), anyone should be able to tell a child to get out including law enforcement. Reply

The law is a bad one.
What if said child has an open wound, common in active healthy kids to have scrapes, and parents say no to dirty puddle water to prevent infection?
Puddle caused by sewage back up?
What if child is in their best clothing/shoes?
Weather too cold, lightening in the area?
Government overstepping their bounds on this one.
I jumped in puddles, with my children, and do with my grandchildren. But parents should be allowed to parent.

That's a real hoot. If we could only check out all these old laws and probably many of the current ones and fire all the legislators who deemed it necessary to spend taxpayer dollars to put these into action. Course others now in California and Washington state where I live are constantly enacting them right now! Reply

Yes, I have to wonder what happened to encourage this law. Reply

This is indeed one of the silliest of the silly laws I have seen on your Saturday topics. I mean who has a right to interfere with someone else's child for any reason? Let the parents decide if it's okay to let their kid jump over or in a water puddle Reply
