One of the places my husband and I went with our grandchildren was the Castle Museum at York. The children eight and five enjoyed running around and looking and interacting with everything. They even enjoyed the dungeons and trying every locked door. Well worth a visit for £22 a year you can go as much as you like and get children in for free. The ticket also covers the Art Gallery and the Yorkshire Museum too.

I've never been to York, nor Yorkshire, is it not full of dangerous vikings with horns? The railway museum would be fun though, and the Bradford media museum (? that used to be the Bradford TV museum) !... One day :).
