Conkers
Closed

There's a big horse chestnut tree on the road to town and this morning some baby ones were already on the pavement. We used to play conkers in the school playground. Apparently its too dangerous now! How times have changed, violent video games seem to be safer these days, you don't even have to get off the settee.

I'd rather find some sweet chestnut trees. Much more interesting!

When I was at primary school a retired man who lived next to the school used to collect the conkers from his grounds in hessian sacks & tip them in the playgound for us.
It was in the '50's when kids were allowed to be kids.

Yep I used to play conkers remember trying all sort of ways to make them stronger to win fell out of many a tree to get better ones. Your right violet video games are safer I think not.

I've never played, but think it's silly that some schools have banned it.

I collect them for spiders as well, I think they work, as I don't get many, I hate them! We never baked ours I think horse chestnuts are probably poisonous.
