A timely warning .

This is a good , clear ad from the Metropolitan Police , about the dangers of becoming a money mule . There were a staggering 40,000 cases last year , and a high proportion of those duped were aged 41-60 . The video explains what can happen . Food for thought , I reckon . What do you think , my friends ?

As with any other fraud, the perpetrators can be very convincing. It isn't simply a matter of being asked to receive money and pass it on, retaining a small commission for your trouble, which in itself might well raise suspicion. It is often presented as acting as agent for a legitimate business, working from home with regular hours : an opportunity that somebody searching for work or needing extra income may jump at, not knowing that it is a sham and they are expected only to launder one or two payments before being caught. I am a bit perplexed by this. So, someone asks if they can use your account to transfer money and because of it, you'd get a cut of it? That should ring alarm bells on its own. Reply

I wonder how much the "mules" get paid and it would be interesting to know what % of these crimes are actually traced back to the account holder? Reply
