A Man was given a €12,000 Bill after a 20 Minute Taxi Ride
Closed

A man from Toronto was charged more €12,000 for a 5-mile Uber ride.
He had to pay $18,500CD (€12,000) after a glitch in the pricing caused his bill to surge.
It should have only cost between $12-$16. At first Uber wouldn't even refund him the money. However, the man's friend called the company out on Twitter. After uproar on Twitter, Uber decided to give the man his refund.
Have you ever been overcharged for anything?

Technical glitch.... who are they kidding, they probably try it on with a certain percentage of fares and end up with a mildly exaggerated fee. LOL

Not that much, lol. I certainly wouldn't have paid anyway, but that's utterly ridiculous :(

I thought the whole point of Uber was you paid in advance, or at least know how much its going to be before you get in the car?
My daughter uses Uber, but last Friday morning she needed a taxi which would normally cost about £7, but due to "high demand" there was a £30 surcharge, so she refused and used a local company instead that doesn't charge a surcharge when they're busy.

Just seen a story about a hospital anaesthetist who was quoted £111-£149 for a 10-mile journey from her home to the hospital where he worked. She expected it to be more than usual given the snow. Unsurprisingly she opted to use a local firm and was charged £30.
