Personaley I think Tom Baker is as he was the one that I grew up with, and I could not help but shed a happy tear when I heard that familiar voice on the DR's 50th anniversary show. But maybe I am wrong if so what's your opinion !

I'm pretty new to Dr Who compared to you, so I would say Peter Capaldi/Matt Smith

Most of the earlier ones, because they gave the impression that The Doctor was not accomplished at being in the human form;
Latter-day Doctors, have only used words to get that difference across.

Ah, that's tricky, because it's run for so long it depends entirely on the era you were growing up in. It didn't actually come to America until the early 80s, and we had it starting at the beginning and we were deluged with all the existing episodes at once. Not necessarily in order. I don't have a favourite, they all ran so consecutively that it wasn't that big an issue. Because Tom Baker served longer than anyone else, he stays in most peoples' minds as a predominant figure. I prefer to have favourite episodes and storylines, rather than favourite doctors. Sorry that's no help, but it is my honest opinion.

David Tennant but, as far as I'm concerned, he could just recite a nursery rhyme, and he'd be the best actor.

They're all fantastic, but my favourite has to be David Tennant.

it's all a matter of personal preference, there is no such thing as "best" in this matter, and anyway this is hardly important in the great scheme of things,

Christopher Ecclestone. Great shame that he quit the role so soon.

I liked Christopher Ecclestone, he was the 9th Doctor, he brought a real edge to the role. Who does your husband think was the best?

As it's a matter of opinion , I don't see how you can be wrong . I'm surprised it's important to you , getting other people's views , as there's no empirical formula for measuring " bestness " .
