Depends what he is like, how about an inexpensive meal for two at the harvester and some sexy underware that did it for my husband when we did not have much money one year. He said it was the best present ever.

Men usually end up with socks, aftershave etc if possible a nice meal and a nice bottle of wine, whether dining out or in, and then you can enjoy as well.

Maybe a watch, a book on his hobby, an expensive meal at an exclusive restaurant, it's hard to think of something really.

As a 48 year old male, and not knowing your husband or his interests, what about booking an Hotel for the night or weekend, starting with a good meal and then taking him up to the room that you did not tell him you booked! If it helps, I wet shave but sometimes need a 'touch up' before going out in the evening so my wife bought me a rechargeable shaver (one of those nice 'Philips' models that uses a moisturising balm as you shave!). Alternatively, as we never grow up, ask him what he thinks would make a decent present for a 12 - 14 year old boy, and buy him that!! Quite like 'sweeneytodds' idea (not his choices though!!), but would not do anything for me - my wife is only 28!

A day with just you and him and not the kids ( thats if you have any ) take him out wine and dine him........ of and firstly make him breakfast in bed ! If doesnt have to be all about money....... just show him you care about him and make him feel special on his birthday should be enough........... and plus men are so hard to buy for anyway .......lol.......lol.....

A 48 year old bottle of wine or some other drink he likes. That way it is a special present that can be kept for however long he likes or drank on his birthday.

If you really can't think of anything then get him 48 roses. They don't have to be the expensive ones. Or... take him out to diner, or lay yourself on the bed wrapped in paper and ribbon and say you are his present.
Have fun

I have to agree with lisa it would be easier should there be some indication of his interests.. however the racing track one I got my partner and he adored it. I think it is a guy and car thing. I intend to do it again someday as it went down so well.. mind you it might be rally car driving next time or a tank, that would be fun, or a flight as he adores planes. There are so many material things that you could get, but an experience.. that is a memory. Good luck with it Inzil x
