Where to get a new kitchen from?

I am shopping around for a new kitchen with a budget of around £5k-£8k. Any suggestions and any recent positive or negative experiences?

I have used B&Q twice, your budget isn't huge despite what nlm says, especially if you want flooring and tiling - tiling is particularly expensive. Compare prices if you want new electrical appliances as it may be cheaper to get them elsewhere. Good luck, it is the most disruptive job except a complete rewire, which we also did in the house where we now live, but can't recommend going somewhere else and leaving the tradesmen to get on with it - they tend not to. I have done my last three on my own, except for connecting the electrics;
A plumber and electrician you know will give you good advice and instructions when you hire them, plus the use of tools, and you will get a great sense of achievement from self-assembly.
For what you have to spend, I could almost by myself a bedsit, let alone a kitchen !

There are so many places. A friend of mine chose B & Q as she trusts them to do a good job and that they will honour the guarantee. The problem with smaller firms is that some of them will not honour the guarantee and the only option you will have is a lengthy and expensive legal action. I am going to choose them for my bathroom. My fitted kitchen was fitted by my father so I know it was done well and it saved a lot of money. Reply
