what is the worst job you have ever had?

For me it was working in retail for a gentlemen's outfitters, you really see the British general public at their worst when they confuse service for servant, but what was your worst?

I worked in coffee shop, which was okay sometimes but people can be SO RUDE lol. I would never speak to someone the way some of those people spoke to me, and all you can do it smile and be polite because the customer is always right lol

Realistically however bad the job it compares favourably to not working, but some have been hard... when I was 15 I spent a couple of weeks on a batching plant, pushing barrows of gravel up inclined planes all day. At 15 it was too hard for me physically, as I didn't have the required stamina, but it would have been an OK job later on.

I've had some truly crappy jobs. The worst was probably working at St James Park. I passionately hate football, football fans. Loud, obnoxious, annoying drunks, overly emotional people who just look for ways to annoy you.

Definitely retail, the work was great meeting and talking with people but everyday you have to put up with at least one person trying to pull a fast one, eg. using goods then damaging them when no longer needed and returning for a refund, and when refused will argue until they are blue in the face that you are just trying to rip them of, when its blatantly clear the obvious is true, and although a nice job the company were worse than the tories if you live in Leeds you will know who they are, think hotels and football. Work in mines now, another world and love it

Ashworth Secure Hospital. Its leery, all day every day - not that that was a surprise. Its just that I could have lived with a lot less 'leery'

Working as a waitress, ditto confuse service for servant and you are paid such a pittance that you are dependant on their tips - it was dreadful, I have done other horrid things but that was the one thing I always said I would never do again, and I never did.

Turkey slaughterman at Christmas time before I took the Queen's Shilling, although teaching during the later stages of the twentieth century compares even less favourably now I come to think of it; it was the staff not the pupils that I detested.

Working for a pharmaceutical company. The job was not too awful, but I had the manager from hell.

Whether it was the worst job is hard to say, certainly I have bittersweet memories of my first days working on the haulage system half a mile underground in a colliery. The work was monotonous and sometimes dangerous but the other miners were a jolly bunch. A few years later events did take a turn for the worst when visiting those areas of the mine where fires or roof falls had occurred. Was this worse than trying to teach a bunch of school leavers simple mathematics? I have my doubts.
