what is your opinion on slimming clubs like weight watchers or slimming world? good idea? waste of time? too expensive?

i used to attend slimming world on and off for 3 years and i did lose 3 stone!! the only problem was that they changed the plan that i was used to and i didn't like the other plans, so it didn't suit my needs any more so was really upset that i couldn't follow this plan on-line any more :-(

Waste of money. Try drinking lots of water throughout the day and lots before a meal. That way you won't be able to eat as much. You'll feel hungry less too so won't snack as much. you will be feeling hugely bloated all day though but you will get used to it. And it's free!

If somebody wants to lose weight they need to know what the problem is. If its just being greedy then they just need to cut down gradually and excercise. Peoplewith diabetes will always be slightly larger.

I've never been to one, but a couple of my friends find Weightwatchers helpful.

I've never tried one, but I have mixed feelings.
I do believe they can give you the tools to lose weight (including peer support and tips to healthy living).
However, the marketing always seems to be about weight loss and not maintenance of a healthy lifestyle; if this is reflected in reality, then it's not much use. I worry about what is suggested to replace their support when it is no longer there. I also believe their fees to be rather high.

I agree completely with the previous response. However, I know that for many it's the actual attendance or being in an online club that can provide a morale booster and make dieting more fun and help a person keep a positive attitude towards their diet.

Firstly, very well done for losing 3 stone!!! If I were you I would stick to the original plan you had and the healthy way of eating and exercising that worked for you and you do not have to pay the over exuberant prices such companies charge for their programmes, just do what you used to do!!!
