Try putting bleach in the machine and then putting it on a rinse with nothing else in it. If that doesnt solve the problem check the filter on the machine. It may be a case of a build up of fluff n stuff thats festering. Also check round the rubber ring around the door, it could be that the smell is coming from debris that has accumulated over time. If its not any of those things then i am sorry but possibly the only option is to call out a washing machine engineer to see if he can find the problem
You dont actually say WHAT sort of a smell so i cant come up with any other suggestions i am afraid

Could clean out the filter if you have one at the bottom of the machine and clean out the draw and drum

If you do the rinse cycle on economy with some Dettol in it you should then leave the door open and also dry round the rubber seal. This should do it.
