This film was always going to be controversial and people were either going to love it or hate it with little room for a middle ground. The producers and director were taking a big risk with this one. I think they lost the gamble. They are making money and so called career glory out of a nations misery and giving the terrorist faction involved even more fame and an undying attention thats now captured in this film. Its a mix match of different films edited together that either talk of unrelated incidences or that show graphic images in tasteless ways. All in all i think it was a bad idea and done in a disrespectful way to the victims, survivors and those who lost their lifes.
The September 11 film is a separate but collective effort by 11 filmmakers who were given $400.000 each to make a film 11 minutes, 9 seconds and 1 frame. The formula is not new, neither are eternal flames as grave markers.
Each director was given creative license to make their film. The result is 11 viewpoints on a host of angles regarding to the suicide aircraft attack on the World Trade Center. The facts of atrocities committed in war should come as no surprise to anyone from any country. Americans are as aware of the damage of war as other nations. War is not good for anyone. When men play war with guns people are killed, innocently. The most interesting inclusion is the Israeli journalist trying to report on a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. Her story gets bumped because of what's happening in New York. The story is absurd showing how powerful war and media is, and how far from peace the world is. Showing the film reveals how clever the media is in pitting nation against nation and cultivating a fake sense of patriotism. An aftermath of the film could be, don't buy into hating your brother and sister and show some compassion for all people for all injustice everywhere.
Being Steve McClaren's first year in charge will undoubtedly prove a nervous campaign to qualify for the Euro 2008 championships. I think the teams in England's group are not better team than England, i.e Croatia Russia Istrael Andorra Macedonia and Estonia.
I strongly believe now that England have played two games recently against Israel and Andorra and collected 4 out of 6 table points, is a fair result. The teams England played against are sit back and defend teams, and breaking these teams down when the Israeli team are physically and tactically strong.
England do have certainly the players that can do a job. The players that McClaren can call upon is an experiment to a certain extent. The nucleus main players are the likes of Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, and Ashley Cole. For McClaren to get things right its making the correct tactical decisions on the field and with the team selection.
He (McClaren) has kept out David Beckham which i feel has left the set pieces and corners stregth and skill level down a fraction. He played Jamie Carragher against Israel and then left him out of the Andorra match. This shows inconsistency for the England team.
Personally i feel his record at Middlesborough is certainly average Mid tables and lower 10 in the league finishes certainly show lack of confidence and some inability to get results.
The England head coach has players worth far greater than any other national side in Europe. I am sure he and the rest of England shouldnt take the natural ability and the fans for granted. Its not results that are average or just above average that have to be made, its time the head coach should be getting the job done with far greater endeavour and showing Europe and the world that we are a great footballing international side.
Ten games into his reign as England manager, Steve McClaren seems no closer to sorting out the problems that ?bedevilled? the English national team during Sven?s tenure. Shoddy defence, poor passing, and the failure of a midfield arranged for Frank Lampard?s benefit were all in evidence during the dismal 0-0 draw against Israel in Tel Aviv. More worrying still, the former Middlesbrough boss does not appear to have the tactical acumen required to succeed at the highest level. He persists with a formation that was clearly failing to provide the necessary penetration. It is of my opinion, as things stand, he is looking ill-equipped to handle the task of ensuring qualification for Euro 2008.
