my children both had riding lessons, but were always equipped with the correct safety helmets to protect them in the event of a fall

My 8 year old son loves to dance, he's always tapping hs foot to music or bopping around to music. He has decided to go to the after school dance club which I dont have a problem with, infact to me whats the problem a boy likes to dance. However a few of his classmates say he's a girl and some male firends of mine think its too girlie. He also plays Rugby, football, Table Tennis, Basket Ball & Judo. What do you think?

No I don't think its a problem at all, especially if it is something that he seems to have an aptitude for, you never know, he might be the next Billy Elliott which would be great, although I hope that he gets more support from his family than Billy did. Furthermore, it sounds like he enjoys dancing, together with a range of other activities and that it is by no means his exclusive interest. At the end of the day, I think we should encourage our kids to pursue their interests and talents, I would ignore your male friends, they are being old fashioned.

Running for an hour is about a 1 half marathon = 21.097494 kilometers.
A half marathon is a road running event of 21,097.5 meters, or 13+7⁄64 miles, about 13.1 miles. It is half the distance of a marathon and usually run on roads. It is a popular race for intermediate runners, long enough to be a serious challenge but not requiring the level of training of a marathon. In consequence, many towns and cities hold annual all-comers half marathon races through their streets. It is also common for a half marathon event to be held concurrently with a marathon, using almost the same course with an early finish. So yeah its hard.

The key is to get a heart rate monitor & learn to run as SLOW AS YOU CAN.........this will hurt but build stamina & develop gears. Simply you are trying to run too fast too quickly. Buy a mag like RUNNING FITNESS and read it. (before i got ill I was able to run 2 & half hours NON STOP.)
