Anyone got any tips for more ways to 'tighten your belt' to get through the current financial situation?
School teachers are often criticised for failing in the classrooms. However, with teaching staff facing ever increasing levels of bureaucracy thus taking their much needed attention away from teaching, greater emphasis has inevitably been placed on parents to play a more active role in the home education of their children. Many parents are uncomfortable with the responsibility associated with this demand and need help from society to perform the task. The Open University has for many years provided late night education for adults wishing to better themselves. Should we not now be encouraging TV companies to follow the example set by the Open University by adopting more nightly pre-watershed educationally informative programmes aimed at children, perhaps in place of the seemingly constant supply of Soaps or reality TV shows that do nothing but offer a re-launch opportunity for long since forgotten celebrities?
