I was thinking about starting a market stall selling fudge. What types of fudge should I sell? I was thinking vanilla, clotted cream, chocolate, maybe an alcoholic one like whiskey and maybe one with smarties or something in it.Are there any other things I could sell alongside the fudge - preferably things that I could make in advance and store untill I needed them? How much do you usually pay for fudge from a market stall? Any recipes would be greatly apreciated too!
p.s. I have looked up all the information regarding permits/licences and food safety for my local area before anyone asks/tells me.
Hi Minnie, My favourites are vanilla, rum and raisin, chocolate, belgian chocolate, anything with nuts. I love fudge, and often buy from artisan fudge makers when I go to large agricultural or equestrian shows. I buy about £20 worth at a time, then take it home and freeze it until required. It's gorgeous! You don't say whether or not you're experienced in either fudge making, or business, but I assume you'll have done all your market research (no pun intended) about what is already sold in the market you're going to set up within, whether there are other local fudge makers, go to other markets, taste other people's products, check out their pricing, packaging and presentation. Above all, good luck!
Hot out of the oven so that the meringue on top is nice and crispy, whilst underneath the lemon is hot and oozing. Yummy. Or then again there's good old fashioned apple pie served with clotted cream; or do I go for a hot chocolate souffle with pouring cream over the top. Decisions, decisions; perhaps I'll have a slice of raspberry cheesecake instead! :)
