i dont think that it's necessary to get married but it is a way of showing commitement and if you really love someone then you will want to get married to them whatever the cost. it isn't a waste of money though as you can easily have a wedding that doesn't cost too much if you can't afford to have a big white wedding. it is always possible to have a cheap wedding in a small place with a small crowd with no reception afterwards to save money, but you can then show your love for your partner and them only.

My friend has just recently given up smoking. She had 1 session of acupuncture which cost €50 (which i know is expensive if you don't have the spare cash) and every day she puts away the price of a packet of cigs into a jar and has saved up nearly €300 already. She has been tempted to have a cig every now and again but the craving only lasts seconds and once she gets over the craving she's fine again. The acupuncturist told her to write a list of pros of not smoking so she just gets her list and reads through it while having a craving and counts her savings!! which really helps. You should try and read the book 'How to Stop Smoking' by Alan Carr (borrow it from your local library). Myself and my husband are going to kick the habit at the end of the summer (fingers crossed)!
