As a nurse I am sick of people complaining about the health service. I hate how the media always focuses on the negative from super-bugs to vermin on wards, but never highlights any of the positives. I worry that all this negative press makes people scared to go into hospital for necessary treatment, and their anxiety makes the whole recovery process longer. Yes, there are problems, but I think the same problems would arise in privately owned hospitals too and I think that private health care would only serve to make things worse for those on low income.
I know the general consensus about Mr Al Fayed is that he is a nutter, stinking rich and deserves all he gets but only the most deeply cynical and hard hearted would not feel sorry for the sad little picture of an old and broken man in today's papers. What he did was what most parents would do at times of grief. They want answers. And even when people die in hospital, Ive heard families saying "he could have been saved if they had done this or that. I want answers."
It makes you realise that money means nothing - when a child dies, no amount of money can bring him back. I would feel a pang of sadness for anyone who lost a child, but to lose your son in such tragic and mystifying circumstances, and to still be searching for answers ten years down the line is truly heartbreaking. And think back, all the outpouring of grieg back then was for Diana, Al Fayed must have been thinking, ''but my son died also'' and he must have felt that very deeply - i know i would have if it had been my son.
It would be good if it could be abolished, as most of us find it so costly, but it is unlikely to be. How would we pay for the services such as refuse collection, etc? The money has to come from somewhere, no one is going to do those jobs for free! Have you any suggestions as to how else we fund public services instead of by council tax? I would love there to be an alternative way! Council Tax seems to be going up at an alarming rate.
I really feel for Kate and Jerry they were accused of being involved in their daughters abduction, then they now have to face the fact that the police have never followed up a lot of leads that could have led to their daughter being found people can say what they like this couple has to live with the fact if only they had not went out that night well as they say let who is withought sin( who has never done anything wrong) cast the first stone. I also think after there is a news report saying someone somewhere saw Maddie numerous other people seem to suddenly remember having seen her somewhere else I hope all these people who are making it up can live with themselves because resources are being spent following up these leads that could be spent following real leads. So I say to anyone who has saw Maddie make sure the information goes to the right people and for the rest of us lets keep Maddie Kate, Jerry and the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers
